Shame the restaurant ratbags

June 17, 2014

Good to see that a northern suburbs Indian restaurant has been named in The Advertiser over twenty charges of  failing to comply with the food code.

One wonders, though, why this has happened, while  twenty eateries closer to Unley (and maybe even IN Unley) remained anonymous a week or so ago, despite having committed similar offences.

What would be the authorities’ position if there was a fatal food  poisoning case later on involving  one of the guilty premises and the public had not been warned?

I believe that Unley Council should be naming all eateries that fail to comply with the food code.. No iffs and buts – if they are caught then post the details on the Council website. No allowance for multiple offences – Strike 1 and they get listed!
This will ensure a higher compliance by the industry.
We need to be able to eat out with confidence.
After Strike 2, Strike 3 – Council should be shutting the business.

You’d probably get full support from Unley Council’s CEO, who was laid low with severe food poisoning last week after eating out in Unley! And Grumpy Junior, who has worked in some of Adelaide’s top nosheries, could tell you tales that would make your hair curl.

Totally agree – either all are named or none in which case – what is the point of the article? Food poisoning is no fun and there are rules/laws and legislation to be followed to assist the public and business owners. Makes one happy and content to eat at home if food poisoning is offered often on the menu!!!
