Millswood mumbo-jumbo..

June 19, 2014

Don’t look now folks, but if you are hoping for a quick fix that will allow for the promised trial  re-opening of Millswood railway station, think again.  It seems that the pre-election  promise by then transport minister Chloe Fox that the facility would reopen  on July 1 was blatant, unfounded electioneering…and a broken  promise that had a major bearing on the return to power  of the Labor Party.

Now, with Labor safely back in the box seat, Transport Department spokesperson Melissa Martin  says that there is no record of a plan to meet the July deadline, and instead says that there will have to be “significant” work needed before the re-opening can happen.

Writing in this week’s Courier Messenger, Emmie Dowling lists a whole lot of things that need to be rectified, but states  that the Department  has said   the  station WILL be the subject of the promised trail.

What’s that old saying? A verbal promise isn’t worth the paper it isn’t written on…

Watch this space to see if we have all been conned.

Over to you Minister Mullighan. But I won’t hold my breath for a statement.

I’ve provided photographic evidence to the Advertiser that the promise was also made by Jay Weatherill and he is still the Premier. He must deliver as promised.
