$2.2million for new Unley open space.

June 24, 2014

It’s been a somewhat long, secretive and  tortuous process, but all the legal and financial  to-ing and fro-ing has been worth it…

Parkside Ward, which I have represented on Unley Council for a decade or two (the last four years alongside John Koumi) is to have a new park. A former Fullarton nursery garden bounded by Katherine, Nelson and Moore Street is the latest and welcome addition to the sparse amount of open space that Council has in contrast to surrounding suburbs.

The 2,600sq metre land, site of the former F A Grimes and Sons nursery, is an exciting addition to the meagre two percent of open space in Unley, and the  community will be asked to take an active part in deciding just how the land will be best used.

The derelict cottage is to be bulldozed, and other work, such as  soil treatment, will mean that the park will not be available to the public until at least late next year.
