Unley cyclist paralysed

September 10, 2014

Unley Mayor Lachlan Clyne has sent a message of sympathy and support from Unley Council to medal-winning cyclist Mr Robert Freak, who is in intensive care at Flinders Medical Centre as the result of an accident in which he suffered major spinal injuries.
On Monday evening Council was told that Mr Freak, a long-serving member of the Unley Oval Reference Group, was in collision with a car at Brighton last week. He is undergoing treatment for two severely damaged vertebrae.

Mike, maybe your comment should read more like the likely truth “Mr Freak was struck by a car driven by an inattentive or irresponsible car driver while riding his bicycle with friends”. From all reports Mr Freak was not at fault.

You are probably right. More than probably. But I could find myself in a legal tussle if someone took exception to my apparent pre-judgement of the incident.
Meanwhile his wife has told me that he is making some slight progress, and has feeling in his fingers and toes, which would seem a good sign. Mike.

Slip the word “potentially” in there and you are not liable for slander or preposition of guilt.
