He’s baaaaack…

November 8, 2014

Yes, gentle followers. The Grandpa of  Grump, the Master of Muttering, the King of Caustic Comment is on your screen once more.

It’s game  on as Mr Grumpy takes to the turf again after a six-week lay-off courtesy of the rigid players’ rules in the four-yearly contest know as “Local Government Elections”.

Mind you, the month-and- a- half exile was self-imposed  — to ensure that nothing went wrong in my bid to retain my Parkside Ward seat on Unley Council…a role in a Local Government career  that  goes back to 1982 and has had me dubbed the Dinosaur of Democracy.

Provisional figures have me obtaining an outright quota,  with John Koumi, my co-councillor for the past term of office, squeezing past Bruce Holland  by  a mere 25 votes  or so..

Figures for the four other wards being contested have yet to be announced, but Unley Ward incumbents Michael Hewitson and Rufus Salaman were victorious, as were Anthony Lapidge and Peter Hughes in Fullarton Ward.

More later.

And a big “thank you” to those who took the time and trouble to put your numbers in the right voting  box.
