Ghastly, grotesque, gruesome…and expensive.

November 15, 2014

OK, OK, OK. So I’m repeating myself. But it IS my blog, and I’ll cry if I want to!

Just where all the creatures come from, and why they were ever killed, stuffed and now put up for sale is beyond me. And perhaps I shouldn’t even be mentioning them again— in the hope that the inexplicable taxidermy fad will itself die.

Trophies of dead animals…heads, whole bodies and feet (in the case of the  elephant variety which are proudly used as umbrella stands for godsake)…seem to be in the ascendancy of late in Adelaide’s auction scene, much to our shame. And I am NOT about to glorify and advertise just where you can  start — or add — to you very own morbid animal mortuary.

But, just as an idle thought, can anyone explain the fascination of sharing your home with such joyless displays?
