Dams. Progress and procrastination.

January 8, 2015

While the war of words and tension continues to bedevil the various proposals to prevent widespread flood carnage in the event of a one- in-100 year flood of the Brownhill Creek, another flood-prone waterway in the Unley Council area is being tackled with a diminished amount of public angst.

According to York Civil, the firm given the task of undertaking the Ridge Park storm water detention dam project, the number of inquiries about the scheme is diminishing and “are of an informative rather than complaint nature”.

The bulk excavation for the concrete core wall has  been completed

Meanwhile the critical milestone of the placing of steel reinforcement and below concrete for the main core structure was also  completed, and York Civil Plan to have the above-ground core wall concrete completed by the end of January..

At present Grumpy is unable to bring you any up-to-data  on the battle of wills and words dragging on over the Brownhill Creek kerfuffle, with the “No Dam” brigade a whisker or two in front in the  communication  battle.
