Socceroos turn the tables.

January 14, 2015

tim cahillOman felt the full might of an Aussie goal machine tonight. And it wasn’t just the Socceroos who came out dominant with a 4-0 scoreline.

The 50,000-plus crowd was an emphatic message  that the round ball game is getting a significantly stronger grip on our sporting world. And that’s oh-so-sweet music to the ears of Grumpy, who grew up  playing  Tom Finney as second fiddle to my best friend’s legendary Stanley Matthews in the local south of England street-kids division.

OK, there’s still a way to go to reach the Asian Cup final, but the clinical carveup of a bewildered Oman  ..a complete reversal of their showing at the two teams’ last meeting …  augurs well for more Socceroos success.
