Sydney sojourn

February 5, 2015

Back from a couple of days  in Sydney, the city of the Coathanger and a fiendish conglomeration of traffic lights that somehow miraculously seem always to be to  the disadvantage of pedestrians…

Not so many cyclists as you would have thought, given the wide cycle lanes in some areas, but then the suburban rail system is so widespread, fast and efficient that there’s not much call for them (Or so it would appear).

Too busy enjoying ourselves to catch up with much of the local press, but one single-column news item did spring out at me…the proposal that would see four or so NSW councils merged to form a 454,000-people unit.

Now THAT’S what you would call a merger!!! But not a lot of “local” involvement, one would imagine.
