Pavement nosh may spread.

February 20, 2015

Don’t look now, but the plague of pavement eateries could be on the move again.

Suggested items for the March meeting of Council include one “To provide Council with options regarding possible changes to the footpath at the Maud Street/Unley Road intersection”.

This at a junction which was the site of an incident in which a car careered across the footpath usually set for outdoor diners and  into the kitchen wall of “Mother’s Milk Cafe”, fortunately when no customers  were around.

Once again, I can only express my amazement that pseudo boulevadiers want to have their coffee and cakes, or whatever, laced with carbon monoxide fumes.

No details to hand. But there are two options.  Neither suitable. Intrude into pedestrian territory or usurp valuable parking space adjacent to a major business road. Neither makes sense.

Meanwhile, just coincidentally, another item suggested for the March Council meeting refers to “Outdoor Dining Policy” and “Policy for shops along Goodwood Road, King William Road and Duthy Street”.

Maybe I am just being cynical, but …

Watch this space.
