Sturt’s salvation.

April 22, 2015

Great news, of course, for the Double Blues, with the announcement that their massive debt could eventually be  all but wiped out by the move by the SANFL to disperse the  proceeds from the sale of the AAMI Stadium.  The club will receive the first instalment ($125,000) in October of next year.

But one small (maybe not so small) gripe about the latest edition of the club’s website.

The club is running a public opinion poll on the visual impact of those pesky pickets, in which they talk about the “Peter Motley Oval”. When I last looked that moniker only applies when there are home games. It should only be re-badged 0n those days.

To me it will always be Unley Oval, its historic and accurate title.

Your passion for all things historical is admirable. Thus you, like I, must be enjoying the magnificent look of the picket fence……….and returning the oval to its historical look.

No. And it’s “Me”, not “I”.

If I recall correctly, I did make mention of there being an underhanded push for the renaming of Unley oval, right about the time when it was announced. I watch with interest as the proven subversive tactics of the motor vehicle manufacturers come into play.

I’m with you on this one Mike.
