Koala alert

April 25, 2015

It’s ugly. It’s badly glazed. It’s A/F (that means as found .i.e. damaged).

But despite all that, you’ll have to dig deep at Scammell’s Monday morning auction if you want to be the owner of a small koala born way back in the middle of the last century at Adelaide’s Bosley pottery.

Nowadays the business concentrates on such mundane things as garden edging tiles, but way-back-when souvenirs were all the go…with various companions to the above-mentioned native bear and a coloured variety of robust (my wife describes mine as awful) souvenir plates commemorating the centenary of the Glenelg “Gum Tree” ceremony.

Meanwhile, back on the Monday menu at Norwood, that koala could be yours for a cool thousand…
