Library threat.

April 28, 2015

Goodwood Library could be downsized if Unley Council goes ahead with a suggestion that part of the premises be used for commercial purposes.

In a deputation to the Council last night retired school teacher Mary Kolusniewski said that a group of users of the library were “very concerned” with the idea of 25% 0f the floor space being leased out to commercial concerns, as well as losing the Toy Library.

“It should be no surprise to Council that  such discussion has caused great upset amongst Goodwood Library users and residents who do not want to see any part of their library leased for commercial purposes.

“As ratepayers and residents we expect to be consulted about our library’s future.

“We will not accept the decisions made by 14 people in Council which could adversely affect thousands of us who treasure our library in its current form.

“We sincerely hope that Council abandon any proposals which threaten our beautiful library”.
