Brown Hill Creek’s flood of statistics.

August 14, 2015

220px-HooverDamFrontWaterPublic consultation aspects of the never-ending saga of the flood potential from  Brown Hill Keswick Creek have landed on Grumpy’s desk with a sodden thud. All 79 pages of them! Charts. Graphs. Opinions. Statistics. You name it.

It’s just another chapter in the seemingly endless puzzle that has occupied the time and minds of the five participating Councils…Adelaide, Unley, Mitcham, West Torrens and Burnside…since time immemorial.

Just what impact the consultancy will have on the eventual solution is not clear, but at least we have a clear picture of where the various participants in the marathon stand.

On the “D” side (a creek capacity upgrade) we have BCA (Brownhill Creek Association Inc), FOCUS (the Friends of the City of Unley Society), KNCHA ( Kaurna Nation Cultural Heritage Association), MHS (Mitcham Historical Society), NDiBCCAG (No Dam in BHC Community Action Group) the MRC (Mitcham Rehabilitation Clinic) and State Member for Waite, Martin Hamilton-Smith MP._

Against  “D”. SOCKET (Save Our Creek Environment Trees), CCAA (Creek Class Action Advocacy), FT (For Trees), GRAG (Goodwood Residents Action Group),MCP (Mitcham Creek Preservation), RESS (Residents for Effective Stormwater Solutions Incorporated) and last but not least WUPOT( West Unley Protection of Trees).

Which, of course, simplifies the whole alphabetical aggro…

My thanks to NFAPty (Natalie Fuller and Associates Pty Ltd), who produced the whole report in partnership with URPS…whoever THEY are.

TTFN. I’m off for a BEX and a GLD.

PS. The whole report goes before UCC (Unley City Council) later this month. It will all be TERRIBLY exciting….

I now support a dam up in the hills.
it just seems to be commonsense.

All that is needed is a good creek clean out! Get all the rubbish and junk out of it and let the water flow! A dam is just a waste of tax payers money.
