Marion’s monetary mistake.

August 27, 2015

Maybe there’s more to it than meets the eye, but on the surface (and based on financial  and other details provide to Grumpy), Marion Council may have been ill-advised in it’s recent dummy spit over  membership of the Local Government Association.

While I have been an occasional critic of that body (membership of which costs Unley ratepayers over $50,000 a year), answers to my five questions which were included in the agenda of this week’s Unley Council meeting would, on the surface at least, justify continuing our relationship which goes back to 1968.

The  benefits, we are told, totalled approximately $2.4million, made up of a host of items., including representation in the Pensioner Concession Campaign, the Supplementary Road Funding campaign, Library funding , planning, Local Government Act review, and leadership in such varied issues as climate change, child protection,, school education kits and Statewide Super.

Credit where credit is due.
