Stow Court: Chapter 2.

September 18, 2015

Giving credence to Grumpy’s revelation  about the sale of the Housing Trust’s  106-unit “Stow Court” on Fullarton Road, Unley, he has just come across this website message of hope(?) from them.

I quote:

RENEWING OUR STREETS AND SUBURBS

“We are renewing our streets and suburbs by replacing old homes with new homes, creating better quality social housing, increasing housing choices and affordability and enhancing the liveability of South Australia.

“The Renewing our Streets and Suburbs program will replace old South Australian Housing Trust homes with up to 40,000 new homes in the next few years. We’ll work closely with each tenant to make sure the transition provides good outcomes for all concerned.

“In December 2014 the State Government made changes so that renewal SA is now the single agency responsible for rebuilding the suburbs built by the South Australian Housing Trust.

“Our aim is to renew all Housing Stock built before 1968 (that takes in Stow Court: “Grumpy”) with 4,500 homes to be renewed by 2020. Further renewal will be scheduled across the broader metropolitan area.

“IMPORTANTLY, RENEWAL SA IS COMMITTED TO WORKING CLOSELY WITH EACH TENANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE TRANSITION PROVIDES GOOD OUTCOMES FOR ALL CONCERNED'”

So, folks, if you are a Housing Trust tenant , give them a ring at 8207 1300 or write to Box 698, Adelaide SA 500l, or knock on the door at Level 9, Riverside Centre North Terrace. I’m sure they will be DELIGHTED to have a chat, seeing how committed they are.

This is cruel that Stow Court tenants will be kicked out of their homes. I will, as well as the other tenants have to find another Doctor, Dentist and Vet. Some elderly and infirmed have their prescriptions home delivered as well as books from Unley Library and RDNS. They will be badly affected and this is going to be a terrible upheaval for everyone in Stow Court, especially long-term tenants like myself and some others.
