China comes to Nepal’s rescue.

October 26, 2015

The bad news is that the Madesh, who share the southern, jungle region of Nepal with the Tharu people, have intensified their deadly action on the Indian-Nepal border, with militants even setting fire to an ambulance. The death toll is fast approaching 100, including eight policemen.

The good news (temporarily at least) is that China has stepped into the action by agreeing to supply land-locked Nepal with precious fuel to alleviate the parlous state that exists in Kathmandu and the Himalayan countryside still trying to come to terms with the devastation caused by the 7.8 earthquake earlier this year.

Would-be American tourists have been warned by their government of the volatile situation in the popular destination for tourists, while, as far as I can tell, no such warning has been issued by Australian authorities. Just why is a matter for conjecture and concern, as their continued silence could place our tourists in a delicate and dangerous arena.

And don’t waste your time trawling through the “Advertiser” website…
