Sporting shame.

January 13, 2016

As someone who has been to just two footy matches in fifty years, the current brouhaha over performance-enhancing substances (pronounced “drugs”) leaves me cold.

But, if I were a fan of a game which has the peculiarity of no offside rule, I would be seething at the dangerous stupidity of a whole raft of players who have, for some time, been ingesting performance-enhancing material.

Just how long has this been going on? I bet my pension that there is nothing new in  this, and that it is only with the use of LEGAL medical practices in recent times that the crimes have been exposed.

I am willing to bet that what we are seeing at the moment is just the tip of the iceberg.
