Cycling menace…and MAMILs

February 29, 2016

MAMILs? Middle Aged Men in Lycra.

Definition courtesy of Jessica Leo in today’s perceptive “Advertiser” article on  the pedal plague of recent months, inflicted upon  road and footpath users by the lunatic law-makers of North Terrace.

There is still time to repeal the ludicrous legislation before someone (a pedestrian, pram-pusher or gopher-goer) gets pruned up without warning, as the two-wheeled brigade does not seemed to have grasped the use of warning bells, or discovered common sense and courtesy..

I think there is a case for allowing small children to ride their bikes on the footpath. I go with my kids while they cycle in safety on the footpath.

The Advertiser is part of the Tabloid Press. It serves two main uses: 1. To light fires (both metaphorically and physically) and 2. As a toilet paper substitute.

There has been no mention of the Senate rejection of a challenge to the rule change, nor to the rubbishy heresay statements from objectors (now safely recorded in Hansard), nor the Qld report highlighting the fact that there has not been a major issue with the rule in that state since inception.

Haters will still hate. Ignoramuses will still be ignorant. Car drivers will continue to kill people and the victims will continue to get persecuted.
