Kiwi fern flops.

March 24, 2016

Sorry to see that our Tasman cousins have rejected any move to change their national flag.

It was a firm “no” to the fern leaf, perhaps a precursor to Australia continuing to  stick to the Union Jack on the top left above the Southern Cross.

Don’t get me wrong, but the make-up of Australian population these days deserves to have a more representative rag.

I was surprised by the outcome. Very surprised.
I thought that a new flag for NZ was in the bag; a certainty.
And the fern leaf design was stunning.

A curious undertaking by Key. I gather that there was never any real demand for change. So why the cost and energy put into something that never had a real consensus in the first place.
