Scrabble dabbling. And sex.

March 28, 2016

A great game…and a great interstate attendance this weekend for the three-day national Scrabble tournament held (very appropriately) at the assembly hall of a South Terrace seat of learning.

Well, a sort-0ff three-dayer for everyone except Grumpy, who had to bow out and take to his bed half-way through the competition. Not before he had managed to come out ahead in six of the ten games he was able to finish before ill-health almost finished HIM off.

One of the four games that didn’t go my way was against a lower-teens Indian boy, who snatched a one-point victory after an interesting variety of words that included  my “carnal”.  Asked what it meant, I suggested that he might like to ask his mother for an explanation. She came up to me in the meal-break and told me, with a chuckle, that  he was now better informed…

Shame on you for using such a word in scrabble with a youngster.
Now you using sex to try to get more hits on your blog 😉

You shouldn’t have used such a word playing with a child.
I wonder how his mother explained what it meant.

Mrs Grundy is alive and well in Adelaide. And his mother was amused, not abashed.
