Scrooges of aged care.

April 9, 2016

In the process of selecting a suitable aged care facility for a family member?

Be VERY careful…and take a look at the page 9 story in today’s “Advertiser”, which refers to  the “Allity” firm, which has facilities in 11 sites across the State.

The article by health reporter Katrina Stokes reveals that the company is removing enrolled nurses  from their Walkerville and Morphettville sites and replacing them with less skilled staff working fewer hours.

This, the article goes on to say,  could have serious ramifications, with life and death situations arising from residents being given the wrong medication.

It would seem that the firm is in such dire financial states that it has cut corners in other areas. Trivial, maybe, but an elderly lady of my acquaintance is somewhat miffed that the traditional once-a-month celebration gathering for those residents having a birthday has been reduced to a two-monthly event.

How penny-pinching can you get?
