Laser’s lament as local garage closes.

October 24, 2016

It was such a motoring landmark on Unley’s Duthy Street that my trusty Laser, which was cobbled together about the time that William conquered England, used to drive itself there for its annual service.

Sadly, as with so many things these days, the Galbraith family’s well-known petrol station has come to its used-by date, and Parkside  and surrounds are in mourning.

It’s a mere 82 years since the garage opened on the site of a blacksmith’s business, but the Galbraiths have  has decided to pull the plug following the  death in 2012 of Thomas Galbraith, who took over the business back in 1966.

The sort-of good news is that the business could reopen again in a few months.  Have to dash. I’ve got to pass on the info to himself in the carport…
