Waste-saving scheme squashed

December 23, 2016

Even when Local Government (your council) tries to come up with a cost-saving idea…something that would help keep your rates down…along comes another authority to give it the thumbs down.

Villain of the piece in this case is the  competition watchdog, aka the Australian Competition and Consumer Association, which has put the kibosh on an eminently sensible scheme  that would have seen Adelaide City Council, Port Adelaide Enfield, Charles Sturt, Marion and  Tea Tree Gully  tender jointly and contract for various waste collection services.

The councils have three weeks to appeal.

Tell you what…the ACCA doesn’t appeal to me!
