Hills Hoist: An historic breakthrough

Regular “Grumpy” visitors will doubtless remember my regular gripes about the mis-history surrounding our home-grown laundry innovation…the rotary hoist.

Or, should I say, nonovation.

So it was with great delight and relief to note that the page seven  story in today’s Tiser announcing the sale of the intellectual property for the “iconic” clothesline to a New York corporation comes with the historically welcome aside  that the product actually stems from the 1926 invention of  Unley resident Gilbert Toyne.
