Le Cornu car dilemma

August 22, 2017

At the risk of encouraging fellow Unley Councillor Bob Schnell to become a serial letter writer to the Advertiser and Courier Messenger…

I have to agree with his fulminations in the latter on August 19 about the irresponsible action of  State Government to allow high-rise development of the Le Cornu site at the northern end of ANZAC without ensuring adequate on-site parking.

I am on the record as  pushing for the site to be used to its maximum extent, (I would welcome 12 storeys) in order to minimise the need for high-rise development  elsewhere to allow Unley Council to meet, more easily,  the Government’s (irresponsible) insistence on a large population  increase in the shady suburbs south of the Parklands.

There should be incentives on the Le Cornu site to prevent nearby neighbourhoods from being swamped by the newcomers’ mobile cocoons. Such as underground parking on multiple levels.
