Last Post for the Dardanelle memorial?

September 6, 2017

Maybe I’ve missed it in the past, but I don’t remember Unley’s Mayor ever being invited to lay a wreath at the memorial on South Terrace honouring those WW1 soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice on the hills above Anzac Cove.

Perhaps it’s all just a weird  coincidence that this could be the last occasion that the ceremony will be held on the site, as it now seems more than likely that the cenotaph will be moved  (more than somewhat controversially) to the Memorial Walk on Kintore Avenue….despite a unanimous protest by Unley Council!!!

The ceremony begins at 10.30 this coming Sunday, September 10.
