Pisoni joins Unley Road fray

September 8, 2017

Unley’s Liberal MP, David Pisoni, has taken up the cudgels on behalf of his constituents opposed to the contentious planned  redevelopment of 301-305 Unley Road as part of the Government’s planned Inner Metropolitan Corridor (Sites) Development..

In a letter to the Minister for Planning, John Rau, The Shadow Minister for Planning, Transport and Infrastructure has pointed out that of 277 submissions relating to the site, an overwhelming 88% (243)  opposed the proposal

“Many Unley residents have contacted me directly to outline the details of their opposition and concerns regarding this DPA”, Mr Pisoni said. “You will, of course, be well aware that development proposals and zoning changes are sensitive local issues, in their potential to dramatically change the look, feel and lifestyle of a neighbourhood.

“As the Member for Unley I consider it important to draw your attention to significant opposition within the Unley community to Site 7 and ensure its concerns are heard…”

Meanwhile, could it be that there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon for those opposing the proposed action?

Mr Rau has assured Mr Pisoni that, if public comment on the proposed move was that it was unsatisfactory, and the opponents provided “cogent” reasons for their opposition, then those reasons would be taken into consideration.

“My position is that I have no view, one way or the other, on this until I have had the opportunity of considering whatever the feedback is”.
