Dardanelles: A quiet send-off

September 10, 2017

It was a small but select gathering in the South Parklands this morning when tributes were laid at the foot of the Cenotaph honouring the South Australian casualties of the First World War during the Gallipoli tragedy.

Sadly it would appear that Unley Council’s bid to have the first- ever monument recognising casualties of the 1914-18 debacle  returned to it’s initial, historic and highly significant site on Sir Lewis Cohen Avenue has been killed off by insensitive intervention at Local Government and State Government levels.

Disgraceful.
