There goes the (Wayville) neighbourhood.

October 6, 2017

It would have (I claim) gone a long way towards smoothing the way for Unley to meet the State Government’s dream (nightmare?) of a major residential influx in the suburbs south of the parklands.

I’m talking about the long-abandoned 36,000 sqm Le Cornu site on Anzac Highway,  which has been snapped up for a  trifling $25million by the German retailer giant Kaufland , part of the German group Schwarz.

Rather than house what could have been a showcase  mini-suburb strategically placed between the railway line and the road to Glenelg, Adelaide can look forward (WHOOPIE) to a foreign-owned competitor which just LOVES 20,000sqm warehouses that will dwarf the Coles and Woolworths modest 4,000sqm outlets.
