Unley Road tram disaster.

February 26, 2018

Vehicular “visionaries” foresee trams trundling along congested Unley Road.

It’s NOT a vision. It’s a nightmare.

Today’s election pages in the “Advertiser” carry the news that Opposition Leader Steven Marshall has been bombarded with approaches from Norwood  residents and traders alike concerned about Labor’s plan for  a  60-year step back to the future with a tram service extension along The Parade.

If it looks bad for the trees, traders and visitors to Norwood, think what a similar  nostalgic nightmare would have on Unley’s considerably narrower major shopping strip…

Meanwhile, watch out for a Labor Party election  push for a city-wide $2billion jobs and tram infrastructure promise.

Perhaps we will be able to gauge  Unley’s stance on the issue when the pollie hopefuls gather at Tuesday evening’s candidate chatter session…..

I believe that Steven Marshall is being economical with the truth.
The feedback I’m getting from Norwood is that the tram to Norwood is welcomed by the residents.
Norwood Parade can carry trams. It has the width. Unley Road can’t.
A brilliant election ploy by Jay; right in Steven’s backyard!
Then again, what does Nick think of the proposed tram expansion?
